Since cover tunes seem to be the wave of the future how abaout some cover suggestions.
I want to hear you guys play some Who. How about "Eminence Front" or something from "Quadrophenia"? Maybe "Sea and Sand"?
As a fan of OPW I demand satisfaction!

Maybe "Sea and Sand"? As a fan of OPW I demand satisfaction! why do you have such a problem posting your threads in the proper sections. A few weeks back you posted a thread about the WWE in the "Random Thoughts" section when we clearly have a board for wrestling related topics. Your first post was a thread about the new forums put in the "mt.scallyradio" section, when there were already three almost identical threads in the "OPdub discussion" section. And now you put this in the "upcoming shows" section, when it should have obviously went in the opdub section. and you call wrestling fans morons and I moved your other mis-placed threads, but I'm leaving this one to set an example. now download mt.scallyradio and get your head right,punk...

I was trying to suggest that for your next big show at Mississippi Nights maybe you could pull some crazy cool covers out of your ass to whip the crowd into a frenzy. But I see your more interested in where I'm posting messages than kickin' ass.

mr. warren, i think you bring some of the best stuff to the table here. for you to be called out on the carpet by the administration and publicly chastised (did he really say he was going to make an EXAMPLE out of you?!?!) is ridiculous. i'm just happy that you post...no matter where it is...i'll find it...

you just say that because he's your e-boyfriend. but warreng does post some pretty cool plagiarized stuff. no one who graduated from MOHS could possibly be that witty without some help.
anyway...speaking of cover tunes/rip off artists...maybe OPW should play some Weird Al. Nothing too obvious though. No "Beat It" or "Like a Surgeon". it would need to be something from the polka album. Rob, you have an accordion, don't you?

You bet she is. Does the Holiday Inn have a jacuzzi suite I can get for cheap? I would like to introduce e-wife to real wife in a candle lit setting. Maybe some champagne, some strawberries and a foot long double dong. WEEEEEE HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

how exciting...i don't know about the rest of you girls out there, but i think the most arousing part of this scenario is the "cheap" room...i am a sucker for a guy who knows how to save a buck, that's for sure...it better be a whole lotta champagne...cheap champagne, of course...

I can see now that nobody really wants to hear their favorite band cover their favorite songs.
This thread is dead to me.

okay, let's see...if i were stranded on an island with OPDub, and they could only play certain cover songs, what would i want them to play?
there'd definitely have to be tunes that showcased the band's vocal harmonies and range. dick and bob are only the two most bitchinest singers around, and they seem to have an almost supernatural ability to sing two-part harmonies. jake and pat are no slouches either. nor gattice for that matter. i could definitely see OPDub doing some Temptations, or even more daringly, some Supremes, or Shangri-Las, or even Destiny's Child. Or how about the Dead's "New Potato Caboose"? that's got some great harmonies. i'm sure there are a million songs by a million bands that they could show off their vocals by playing.
they can certainly turn up the heat and rock at will, so i'd also like to hear some rock songs. not that there's a lack of rocking. on the contrary. they rock so well, they should rock some more...and more. I was just thinking of Metallica's Garage Days EP today, therefore they should play something off of it. For it rocks. As for throwback albums, how about an Anthrax inspired Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath, or some Iron Maiden. Fuckin' Awesome!!!
it'd be pretty bad ass if they busted out some prog rock too. the first time i heard them play Epic i was taken back, as it was a complete surprise. but could you imagine the surprise if you were minding your own business at a seemingly typical OPDub show (not that there is such a creature), and then...BAM...Aqualung, or Come Sail Away (comic relief?).
i think it would also be interesting if they covered some other local band(s). there's plenty to choose from. Tall, Flatwheel Band, Clone, Station, Lost Parade, Longhead, just to name a couple.
Other suggestions:
>A bad ass/funny medley >anything by guns n' roses >more slow songs (so as i can get my love on) >Child of Rage >any TV theme song (Harvey Birdman, preferably) >anything that will make warreng take his shirt off (so as i get my love on)
of course, i completely understand that my suggestions were not solicited by any member of the band. i don't expect them to play anything just because i, or anyone for that matter, asks them to. but if you guys want to see a boner pop out my slacks (again), play me summa that shit.
in closing, a good friend of mine from England one said, "you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you just might find, you get what you need." and as they have continually done throughout their existence, i suspect OPDub will supply us all with all the tasty covers we will ever need.

i do like that song but i don't think pearl jam can be topped. and besides its not really a song you can shake your ass too! however i too have a suggestion, i can remeber mr zillon doing a rather kick ass version of rape me way back in the day. i think pat should sing a little ditty from time to time. maybe something from the good ole grunge days.

I would pop a boner if you covered Talking Heads Psycho Killer or it would be a HILARIOUS shocker if you played "Boom, I got your boyfriend" or Wham's "Wake me up before you Go-Go". But that's just me, I like overtly gay music.
