Galactic came out with a new album about a month ago. It's called From the Corner to the Block. I didn't expect much from this album since it's supposed to be more of a hiphop album. Each tune has a guest rapper, or mc, or dj, or whatever you want to call it. I am definitely impressed with this album. It's probably one of my top five favorite albums of this year that I purchased. Yes, purchased. Each song was written about a "corner" of something, mostly streets. It's a cool concept. The songs aren't related to each other, so I wouldn't call it a concept album. Does that make sense? Maybe it is a concept album.
I bought the new Amfibian album a while back. Amfibian is Tom Marshall's band. He's the guy who wrote with Trey when Trey wasn't a convict. Actually, Trey contributes on one of the songs, which is a pretty good song. Tom's singing sounds much like Trey's delivery. But the music on this album is kind of strange. Some of the songs sound like the first album, which has a Beetles sound to them. Other songs sound like a stale late 90's style of Better Than Ezra/Vertical Horizon stuff. But it's something you might want to listen to for yourself.
I think the White Stripes album is good.
I've bought so many cd's this year. It's going to be really tough to make a 2007 mix at the end of the year. This year, it might be a double disc. I'm sure you can't wait.
My brain hurts.
